TGIF || Dr. Seuss Inspired Cocktail and more!

Happy Friday and Happy Dr. Seuss Day (aka: Read Across America Day)!

I hope you all had a really great week! I really can't emphasize enough how important I believe reading is, especially to my daughter Sophia. Like I've said a million times before, I've read to her every night at bedtime since she was born and now she reads to me (she's great at memorizing the books, lol) most of the time! Since it is Read Across America Day, what could be better than a few Dr. Seuss inspired goodies? I've even included cocktails Moms and Dads!

Tonight I made a really quick and easy drink. It is literally a Moscow Mule in a clear glass instead of a copper mug with blue food coloring, garnished with a festive striped straw (Cat in the Hat) and some Swedish Fish!

Recipe:

1.5 oz. Vodka (I used Absolut)

1.5 oz. Freshly squeezed lime juice

4 oz. Ginger Beer ( I used the Stoli brand)

Ice

1 drop blue food coloring

Swedish Fish

Festive Straw

Directions:

Place ice in glass. Pour 1.5 oz. of vodka over ice.too with 4 oz. of Gingerbeer and squeeze fresh lime juice over mixture. Add 1 drop of blue food coloring. stir well until color is completely mixed in to drink. Garnish with Swedish Fish and decorative straw. Serve immediately.

Considering we have loads of Dr. Seuss books I wanted to share a few of my favorites that inspired me to make some really fun goodies!

I absolutely love The Lorax so I decided to make some really fun cupcakes with the trees from the book! I was pretty short on time so I just used a boxed cake mix. I colored the icing green for the grass and added some green sugar sprinkles. I wanted fresh cotton candy but had no idea where to find it so I found bagged cotton candy at Target. I placed it on the top of black and white striped straws and placed the straw in the center of the cupcake. Super easy and absolutely adorable! What do you think?

Last, but most certainly not least... One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is another Dr. Seuss favorite of ours! If you know me by now I’m sure you’ve had NO idea that my favorite color is Pink (LOL)! I wanted to make a really fun drink for Sophia to enjoy while she eats a cupcake, so I made a Pink Ink Drink that was inspired by the Yink in the book. If you have ever read this, you’ll know exactly who I’m talking about! The Pink Ink drink that I made is literally homemade strawberry milk with some whipped cream and pink pearl sprinkles!

I hope you guys enjoyed all our Dr. Seuss Day fun! Have a great weekend everyone!

XOXO,
